IIT Bombay's Techfest reinforcing Narendra Modi's Vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat

The 26th edition of Asia’s Largest science and technology festival, with a footfall of 1,75,000+ and with direct reach to 2500+ colleges, is scheduled to happen from 16th-18th of December 2022. Being well known for showcasing some of the best and most unique innovations from the field of science and technology, Techfest has come up with an enthralling exhibition lineup this time!To emphasize India's Defense industry's importance and reinforce Narendra Modi's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Techfest is presenting the attendees with an exclusive defense lineup.

Details of the line up are as follows:

BrahMos - World’s first Supersonic Missile

  1. Next on the line is the BrahMos Missile- lighter, stealthier, and more lethal.
  2. It is a two-stage missile with a solid propellant booster engine as its first stage, bringing it to supersonic speed and then getting separated.
  3. With the ‘fire and forget the principle of operation and pinpoint accuracy, high lethal power aided by sizeable kinetic energy on impact carries a conventional warhead weighing 200 to 300 kgs.

Mahindra Marksman

  1. The Mahindra Marksman is India’s first armored capsule-based light bulletproof vehicle to protect the personnel of defense, paramilitary and police forces against small arms fire and grenade attacks.
  2. Powered by a 2.5-liter CRDI diesel engine, which generates max power of 105 hp and peak torque of 228 Nm via a 5-speed manual gearbox, it weighs up to 2600 kg and can carry a payload of 600 kg. It is designed especially for defense personnel, police and paramilitary.

Mahindra Racing

  1. To all the F1 lovers and automobile enthusiasts visiting the event, Techfest is ready to host A Formula E M8 Electro Gen 2 featuring an all-red livery embellished with Mahindra & Mahindra refreshed identity.
  2. The dynamic Mahindra wordmark reflects the sleeker, more tech-focused Mahindra of today. The new ‘Born EV’ logo is electric-in-motion, like a force of red and silver energy passed by at high speed. It reflects the focus and commitment to the electric revolution.

Indian Space Research Organization:

 

 

  1. Following, we have exhibits from the Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO), India's national space agency.
  2. The Indian space sector has made tremendous growth with remarkable advances in space programs. We experience it closely as ISRO will put up a large Pavilion with Rovers, satellites, rockets, sensors, and engines.
  3. There are PSLV, GSLV models, space suits, ion thrusters, semi-cryogenic pre-burners, and igniters to gratify space enthusiasts. We also have HLVM3 and ps4, and CE-20 engines.

Indian army

  1. Next up is the pride of India - The Indian Army. Global Firepower (GFP) annual defense review of 140 countries, announced India's military is to be the 4th most powerful in the world.
  2. The exhibit will display 12 Bore PAG, Heckler & Koch MP5 ,SAF Carbine 2A1, Micro-Uzi and many other equipped gun systems used in the ARMY.
  3. The display would brief the attendees about the guns used in the Indian Army and their specialties.

NSG Commandos- suits, night vision

        

  1. The National Security Guard (NSG), commonly known as Black Cats, is a counter-terrorism unit of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs
  2. At the defense expo, Techfest is all set to exhibit the equipment of NSG, including Glock-17 pistol,Black Hornet Nano military micro UAV, Heckler & Koch MSG90 sniper rifle, SIG MPX Submachine gun etc
  3. The Exhbitis at NSG will brief the attendees on the functioning of NSG suits and night vision

Garuda Aerospace - agriculture drones, vitol (glider)

  1. At Garuda aerospace, they craft human-centric technologies that lead to intelligence building & impact creation.
  2. Some of the drones displayed at the exhibit are agricultural Drones, Solar Panel Cleaning drones, Loudspeaker drones, and others.
  3. These Exhibitions would encourage the minds of many to broaden their thinking and see the agricultural benefits of upcoming technology.
